I just read a very interesting post by Lyndoman. He writes that the secret blogging weapon is you.
Lyndoman’s tells us that the top blogs are personality driven. He says,
… it is the brand of the author that transcends the content itself. Of course the content goes a long way to developing the online brand of the author, but when it is established the content is less important.
I don’t think I’ve been doing a good job being myself on this blog. Maybe it’s a subconscious thing. Maybe I’ve forgotten that blogging is a personal communication channel. Or maybe it’s because I’m a hired blogger. Whatever it is, I need to stop making excuses and show the real me.
What is the real me? Hmm. I’m not really sure. I think I’ve been copying too many bloggers in personality and tone that I’ve forgotten my own personality and tone. I’ve become part of the crowd instead of standing out.
There’s nothing wrong with learning from other bloggers. However, copying them too closely makes you less interesting and remarkable.
So, I will be myself. I will add my personality to my writing. I will write in a more conversational tone.
By being myself, I’ll stand out from the crowd because I’m different from everyone else.
You’re different from everyone else. We’re all different from each other. That’s the beauty of being human. Be yourself.

I try to be as human as possible. I write like crap (hey! I barely passed grammar and english class in school!), admit my mistakes, write what I know, and just try to be myself.
Good to hear you’re going to start inserting your personality a bit more - it’s something many other popular bloggers need to start doing. It’s no fun reading blogs that have no emotion.
In a way yes. I do reflect my personality to a certain extent on my blogs, especially on matters pertaining to ethics.
Finding your voice, and conveying it in writing is a difficult task. Especially when you read several blogs in the blogosphere. It’s easy to get absorbed into another person’s writing style and lose yourself. I’m working towards this same goal myself.
Ive noticed this about this blog. I mean the posts are informative and i enjoy them, but it isnt my favorite blog.
You should reset your top commenters plugin too.
Go for it, man. That’s the way it should be.
Here, here! Anyone can deliver news and opinions (which you’ve always done well, btw), but it’s always more interesting to hear through a human filter. Cheers!

Of course the only difference between you and the million other bloggers out there is you. Make your personality a selling point and talk about things that interest you and you have a great head start online
Yes very true. But this is pretty much the whole point of blogging, unless you are in it for profit or fame.
BUT i guess this also applies to writing a fictional blog from the perspective of a character you have created. Whatever it is, it has to be unique and have a powerful voice.
