Creating a positive perception on a person’s mind takes time and effort. But a few creative individuals have discovered the easier route in making this impression because they discovered the power of branding.
1. Branding. It does not really matter if some people think you are not advertising enough for your business because ultimately, the perception in a person’s mind is dependent on brand recognition. If visitors don’t didn’t form an impression of your brand when they enter the first time, they will almost immediately forget your website once they leave. On the other hand, if you have a well-maintained blog that centralizes on one particular theme, there is a good chance that 80% of visitors will remember something about your website or blog.
2. Creative content and easy on the eyes. There is a better chance of visitors reading your content if it is written creatively and in an interesting fashion. In addition, the site design also plays a role because people are attracted to websites that make use of good design and color scheme.
3. Using unique avatars . It is not only important for you to have a unique avatar that will make your brand stand out from the rest, you should put it on places such as BlogCatalog and MyBlogLog, among others so people will remember it.
Of course, if there are effective strategies, there are bound to be ineffective strategies as well. You should never use generic themes on your website if you want to establish yourself within a particular niche. It is also recommended for you to have a logo and a custom header as well because these strategies will help in your online branding endeavors.

Brand is so important if return visitors are what you are after. I think so many people just let their branding develop naturally. However I think that their should be a very deliberate strategy in place to make sure people see a brand the way the website/blog owner wants it seen.
It amazes me how many people will use the generic template that comes with what ever platform they are using.
If you are committed to your site. Make it stand out and change the template then have it customized. You can have a pretty average template made pretty special for a couple hundred dollars or less. An attractive site is an asset.
