Keep An Eye on BUMPzee!

It’s about time I did a little followup on my What the Hell is BUMPzee? post. Since I did that article BUMPzee! has made some amazing changes, and it is evolving more and more everyday. I don’t think it will be long before it catches on and smashes MyBlogLog - I’ve already replaced the MBL widget on the sidebar with a sexy BUMPzee! one.

If you remember BUMPzee! was originally only available to Affiliate Marketing blogs, but it has since expanded allowing community organizers to create as many niche communities as are demanded. I just created a Rock and Roll community (although it won’t be active until enough people join). I figured it’d be a good idea to go ahead and get in early as a community manager just in case BUMPzee! goes through the roof sometime soon. Wouldn’t it be nice to eventually be known as an authority in a niche just because you got in on a big thing early?

BUMPzee!’s community system is still in beta testing but it looks great. The main problem with this site remains that a lot of the elements are still a little disconnected and hard to navigate. But that will be fixed with time.

So what’s the point of this rant? Just making sure you keep an eye on what’s going on over there. I’d hate for you to wake up one morning and realize that you missed the boat on the next big thing in blogging.

Looks interesting. Any idea when they will open up their beta for becoming a community manager.

For some reason, I’m still not convinced enough to switch from MBL over to BUMPzee. I am confident that once MBL makes the changes that their user base is crying for, MBL will once again be successful.

I’m gonna stick with MBL on BizStudent, I will try out Bumpzee on the new project to see how it goes.

That’s what I said about a month ago. I’ll assume you haven’t been keeping track with BUMPzee? They’ve done in a little over a month what MBL has failed to do in a year (development wise). They’re growing much faster too - it’s only a matter of time for the masses to catch on.

BUMPzee looks like it has potential, and could do wonders, and I’m going to sign up and check it out myself soon. One thing I disagree with though is that their widget is sexy. In my opinion it takes up way too much vertical space the way you’ve set it up, but perhaps that easy to customize?

That’s at least one of the things that are actually good with the MBL widget, that you can customize it to not take up too much space.

But Bumpzee’s design totally sucks. It looks like St. Patrick’s homepage. When I was being on that site I wanted to ask ‘Hey, where are the cloverleaves?’. Man…

lol yea the design could use some help that’s for sure!

  • Matt Coddington said on April 10th, 2007

Yea that’s very easy to customize.

I’ve heard a lot about bumpzee over the past month or so and I’ve been reluctant to check it out–until this post. Your post gave me a really interesting idea. Thanks. :)

Now, if they could only make a top commenter’s widget that doesn’t hate me.

Damn, one more thing to sign up for :-)

By the looks of things, a lot of the mainstream bloggers have converted or maintained both MBL and Bump accounts. I’m not so easily inclined to terminate my 500+ friends I have on MBL, but will look into strating another account with Bump.

Matt do you think Bumpzee can work on all niches? Like I know some communities can thrive on this, but can other thrive? for example, a car blog vs. a unopinionated blog that just has the daily new of the day.

Not everything can be narrowed down into one niche, I agree - but most can. As for me, I know niche-specific communities is something I’ve wanted for MBL since I joined. I think it’s a great feature of BUMPzee, especially if you’re just browsing for new blogs to read.

I joined BumpZee a few days ago and I love it!

My traffic has gone up, I’ve gotten more links and my Technorati rank went up almost 100,000.

I have been unable to even join mybloglog due to some bizarre glitch!

I took Matt’s advice and joined “early.” I have joined a group and I am managing two groups.

I like it! Thanks for the tip!
