John Cow Is For Sale!

Looking for a site to buy?
I wrote about John Cow two weeks ago and now he’s selling his blog on Digital Point and Sitepoint. There’s already a private bid for $1,250. Not bad for a 2 week old blog.
In 17 days, JohnCow.com has 50 posts, 130 RSS subscribers, over 6,300 unique visitors, and a whopping 125,523 pageviews. All this without hitting the front page of Digg or Reddit!
Is this a good buy at $1,250?
Not sure. It definitely would be a fun purchase. Also, the price will probably go up, since both auctions just started.
If I had extra change, I would definitely buy it so I could have this conversation.
Friend: So, what kind of sites do you own?
Me: One of them is a cash cow.
Friend: Ok, but what industry is it in?
Me: It’s a blog about a cash cow that loves milk.
Friend: Huh?
What do you think of this quick sale? Anyone thinking of bidding?

It will be extremely interesting to see how much the site sells for. No reported earnings and it’s the sort of site where the novelty can wear thin very quickly. I hope for John Cow that he gets a good price but I predict that it won’t sell for over $1000.
$1250 has already been offered.
Aw! I was hoping that it would be longer lasting as I like the humour in the site.
Anyway, he’s found the cash cow and is now out to milk the buyers out there!
More bad puns. Gotta love it :)
i dont think he gonna sold it.
It’s a fad site, the owner’s smart to dump it while it still hasn’t run its course. I wouldn’t buy it, but I wonder who will? Perhaps the evil genius John Chow himself?
Earned around $500 with ads and reviews so far.
John Chow should buy it, it might rank higher……… :-)
Good luck with the sale. I’d say it’ll be a success if he sells it for $1500 and up.
The best part is that this will only work once, just like that million dollar home page fellow. If anybody else makes a copy and tries to sell it, it probably won’t work.
Though I believe bootmoney.com was an original parody but it never became as popular as john cow.
Head on over to John Buffalo and John How (both dot coms). There’s your copycats! (er, buffalo) How’s site is a real disappointment because he has done absolutely nothing to it last time I looked.
You guys really aren’t that dense, are you?
Could the listing be fake? Just to spark more interest in the site, which in turn would generate more traffic.
Did none of you read the post that Michell Harpz did about this tactic about 3 months ago?
It’s almost in his best interest to sell it. It’s a great idea:
Register a site, then immediately put it up for sale.
Develop the site and get genuine traffic numbers and good reviews (and a bit of controversy at times)
Create more attention with a plethora of contests, most of which will be paid for by the blog earnings.
Post site stats every couple of days.
I think the site will go for upwards of $5k. He’s a good marketer.
Received a private bid of $2500 Kiley, the site will be sold if I get a fantastic offer for it.
