I’ve only just heard of John Chow through purchasing this site and the fantastic viral marketing he has done with the whole “Make Money Online” keyword(s). What I have found aparant is that he has people who obviously love him (maybe too much) and have taken on his whole business model. After scanning around I’ve found a lot of look-a-like John Chow’s.

So…this is the thing. Can anyone tell me how many bloggers have completely copied John Chows blog, marketing, hair cut, clothing etc..etc..

John Chow - Make Money Online

Can you find more? I’m offering a bounty of $50 to someone who can find the most look-a-likes of his blog.

How it works - find the look-a-likes, collect the URL’s and then post them in the comment area of this post. Done. Whoever finds the most WINS It’s that simple. When I post the results, the winner will also receive a review of their site/blog.

Should be easy…right?

Closing date 13th June.

Good luck!

Wow, I checked my MyBlogLog and many people came from this site. Thanks Wallet Rehab! I was so surprised because I didn’t know I was so similar to JohnChow. I know I reference him because it’s a good marketing strategy.

I think the most blatant rip off is this:

    http://www.andy-coates.com/blog/

People listen to what John says like he is God. I have to admire him, he has all these sheep following every word he says, even though a lot if his ramblings are false and irresponsible (ie. his post on cookie stuffing).

These people “buy him a beer” and even pay for for their comments to be nofollowed. Talk about squeezing every drop of cash out of your blog!

Anyway, great to see you are settling in well. Good luck with NBB, I’m sure you will do great.

To all you john chow haters- the way I see it as a beginner blogger: you can hate the pros or learn from their success, so if you can’t beat them join them. Yeh im prety guilty of copying him but I made my site long before I knew all of these “followers” would be copying him as well. I didn’t think it would turn into an epidemic of copyiong his site lol. http://www.shaunlow.com. I’m so sorry ;) .

I think the lesson to be learned is that you can copy aspects of another’s success but you can’t copy exactly everything they do. I don’t think I’ve seen a successful John Chow copycat.

And we’re not John Chow haters (I like John a lot), we just think the copycats are adorable :)

    Erik,

Not sure if you forgot your glasses when you visited my blog. If you ever did. Please provide a single visual element in my blog that is remotely similar to one on John’s.

I do nothing like John. We are not even in the same market.

I don’t have it in for you :) I just have a problem with people spreading misinformation and bad advice. I know that the responsibility is ultimately with the reader, but use some common sense. If you do not know enough about a topic, don’t write about it as if you do.

    You are wrong!
the link doesn’t matter! check out the image source. it says “http://feeds.feedburner.com/~fc/NetBusinessBlog”

here ‘~fc’ is used to show the feed count chicklet. If you are using firefox, you can right click on the chiklet on daxdesai’s blog and click on ‘View Image’ :)

    2007-06-09 10:19:20

once the image shows up, you can check your browser’s address box! Actually the trick is to display other’s huge feed count numbers to make people believe that the blog is popular, which in turn results in more subscriptions!
