Article marketing is still one of the best ways to promote a website. But if it is the only way you are following to promote your website, good ranking may be tough for competitive keywords. At the same time, I must say that article marketing is the best way to promote any website especially if you are targeting long tail keywords.

(Those who spend a lot of time in comment spamming, should consider article marketing. You will definitely get better return on investment. Any doubt?)

Ok, I would like to add a few perspectives to article marketing in this post.

1. Write 2 sets of articles for syndication. First set of articles should be unique content. Publish them in most popular article directories. (I will add a few article writing submission sites like http://www.thearticleblogs.com/ to the list soon.)

2. Always, play by the rules of each of those top notch article directories. (Rule does not stand for submission guidelines – rule means what the readers of that directory is expecting. There is a basic difference between Article Dashboard and Squidoo – got that!)

3. If you are looking to promote in a country specific market, look for article directories with similar TLDs. For example, if you are thinking about promoting a website in UK market, look for article directories with .co.uk TLD. Now publish the second set of articles there. You can go ahead and use the same article in different directories.

4. Continue the same practice for a few months and find out which directories are giving you more mileage in terms of traffic and ranking. For better understanding, try using four or five keywords for the period.

5. Once the best directories are identified, concentrate more on them but do not ignore other sites altogether.
