1. Always start with your goals – before you decide to get a SEO vendor, you should first know what they want from them. If you have a team, ask their opinions and get their feedback on what they want to be accomplished with your start on your SEO endeavors. On the other hand, good SEO vendors would know what your goal should be. Try to ask for their recommendation and integrate their suggestions with your own goals.
2. Connect with people – if you don’t know of a potential vendor for you, try to ask family, friends, SEO bloggers, and online business owners for their recommendation. When you ask for their recommendation, try to provide details about your project goals.
3. Get advice from SEO-savvy friends and personalities – asking for advice in blogs and forums focused on SEO is a good idea. Most SEO-savvy people here have actual experiences with using SEO companies and consultants.
4. Talk to them personally or over the phone – communicating through e-mail is great but nothing beats personal meetings because it will give you the sense of being in a team. Make sure that you’re not just talking to the sales personnel which are the case with using a large company but with the SEO person who is in-charge of the whole process.
5. Present some concerns over e-mail –some consultants will not do any work until the contract is signed. But getting them to talk about how a problem will be tackled would be recommended because it will give you an idea about their willingness to communicate and their competency.
