A Friendly Reminder: Christmas is knocking at the doors – are you ready with your website to make some big money, even in this period of financial depression?

If your answer is negative, perhaps you are already running behind the average schedule. Do you fear financial depression? Well, the CEA study has some good news for you – “Consumer Electronics remain must-have gifts of holiday season“. Computers, televisions, video game consoles, digital cameras, cell phones – all these are in the top ten list of 80% of US adults in this festive season.

Even though the average expenditure will be a bit down, things are far better than what was expected.

“Consumers plan on spending a total of $1,437 this holiday season on everything from gifts to food to decorations. That number is down nearly $200 from last year as consumers cite cost of living increases and economic concerns as reasons for cutting back.”

You can also read the story at Compete Blog to get a rough idea on the expenditure pattern over the years: Consumer Electronics Holiday Forecast: Rough Roads or Smooth Sailing Ahead?

My suggestions:

1. Comparison sites: Rather than offering plain and simple affiliate links, write good reviews on any of those product categories and offer price comparisons between different websites. This would help people to take a better decision. If you can, give them some bonus and show them some ways to save money.

2. Change your approach: Rather than showing high-end and expensive products, focus on cost saving but attractive range of products. Take it simply – our pockets are not very healthy at this moment. If you can show us a way to save some money, you will earn more.

3. Do not forget the long tail keywords: My experience and hunch says that websites are going to get a lot of visitors from long tail keywords. (Let’s see)

BTW, who is sending you visitors? Direct advertisements or SERP!
