When things are going fine there is no need to change anything – especially website structure or content or keyword optimization or linking pattern and leave everything as they are.
But what is your growth rate, visitor loyalty and conversion ratio?
On day one of launching your website – you had one visitor. On day two you got two visitors (may be you and your friend). Now in this situation, if you start counting that you have a 100% growth rate, well, you got a problem.
A good and seasoned webmaster can track the changes faster than others – they know which elements are there to stay and which elements is just trash. And that’s why they are masters.
What was the last time that you put your innovation station at real task over your customer service department? Simple HTML pages are good old things but do you really think that they are more user friendly than a java based application! (I know you would say that people may disable java in their browser; but in that case, why do you use images or videos in your page!) Especially when Google has started crawling some JavaScript links, don’t you think it is time to go for a facelift!
Minimalism does not mean that you should not go for latest technologies if they can add value to the core interaction line. To add, if you think that even after two or three years people would only search for information rather than using an application – time may prove you wrong.
Your visitors also visit other websites (advanced) and application platform and eventually they develop a habit. Doesn’t it mean that you have a chance of becoming outdated?
When you had been happy thinking that things are going fine for your website, a lot of things have changed – your target visitors have used more interesting tools and applications in other websites may be for a different reason.
Why don’t you run a survey among the visitors to find out if they are happy with your website or not!
